about the author.

Brandon Huigens (photo left circa 1990) has been self-publishing awkward, minimalist comics and cartoons since 2001 in Phoenix, AZ.

His work has been featured in The ASU West Express Newspaper, ASU’s Hayden’s Ferry Review, Phoenix College’s Coyote Brings Fire, Modest Proposal Magazine, Your Invisible City, topshelfcomix.com, Phoenix New Times, The Arizona Republic, and azcentral.com. He currently has strips published in: hoozdo magazine and on his websites, Modest Proposal Comix and Bong Otter. You can see and purchase original artwork and comics by Brandon in downtown Phoenix at Conspire.

Brandon is the lead singer in The Multi Award Winning Male Pattern Radness, a greasy, progressive, acoustic fuck rock comedy music duo, along with Ryan Lossing – guitarist, cartoonist, and literally the nicest man ever birthed. Sponsored by Vienna sausages (just the meats, not the brand name), they’ve been making greasy music since 2005.

Brandon has been a writer, performer, director, and producer in several live PHX underground comedy shows such as Modest Proposal, Firestage, Femocracy, Muff Mondays, Hidden House Comedy On Tap, and The Remember Abraham Lincoln Comedy Hour. In addition, he is one half of the sketch comedy writing group FiveMayoNoTomato with Kevin Klever. In May 0f 2010, Huigens and Klever were awarded Best Film in the Phoenix Comicon Arizona Creator Film Challenge for the six-minute film The Adventures of Fruits the Cat: The Movie. FiveMayoNoTomato again won the delighted hearts of men, women, and children with their 3-minute version of Weekend At Bernie’s III.

In an attempt to privately redeem himself for striking out 5 times (and dropping an easy pop fly in left field) in the sole Little League game he ever played in, Brandon voraciously runs several mildly-successful fantasy sports teams along with his younger brother.

Incidentally, the act of striking out five times in a baseball game is referred to as a “platinum sombrero”.
